Our Organization
Established in 1865, the Allegheny County Medical Society (ACMS) is a 501(c)(6) membership-based organization that serves over 2,000 physicians, medical students, and practice administrators in Allegheny County. Tracking its history back to the Civil War, the organization is celebrated as one of the leading professional associations of physicians in the nation and is governed by physician members elected to its Board of Directors. ACMS provides advocacy, education, professional development, philanthropic support, and networking opportunities that equip providers with the resources they need to deliver quality patient care and find joy and fulfillment in the medical profession.

2023 ACMS Leadership
The officers of the Allegheny County Medical Society shall be a President, a President-Elect, a Secretary, a Treasurer, and a Board of fifteen Directors elected by the membership-at-large.
Delegates and Alternate Delegates to the Pennsylvania Medical Society shall be elected in the proportion as dictated by Pennsylvania Medical Society Bylaws.
The officers shall assume their duties on January 1 of the year following election.
The President, President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer shall be elected to serve for one year. The President, President-Elect shall not be eligible to serve for two consecutive terms. The Secretary and Treasurer are eligible to serve for no more than three consecutive terms.
Members of the Board of Directors at-large shall be elected for a term of three years. Five Directors shall be elected each year. No Director may serve more than two consecutive full terms.
Delegates to the Pennsylvania Medical Society shall be elected for a term of two years; approximately one-half of the required number of Delegates shall be elected each year. They are not eligible to serve more than three consecutive terms.
Alternate Delegates are elected for a term of one year. Unlimited one-year terms.
