In our first session of “Navigating Your Career in Medicine”, early career physicians and ACMS board members heard from society president, Dr. Peter Ellis. Dr. Ellis is a renowned Pittsburgh physician who spent over 30 years working as an Oncologist and Chief Medical Officer for UPMC. From the clinical side, Dr. Ellis shared his best practices for having difficult conversations with patients. From body language to eye contact, all the way through to having empathy and compassion, attendees walked away from this session with a few useful tools to help develop their own style of delivering information to patients.
Axias Wealth Advisors, a Pittsburgh-based firm specialized in guiding physicians through their unique financial challenges, was also present. Their deep understanding of loan forgiveness, loan refinance, contract negotiation, tax-sensitive investing, college, and retirement-specific investing and more allow them to help physicians prepare for a confident and significant financial future. Axias Wealth Management Advisor and Founder, Christopher J. Pfanstiel, AIF, CLU, ChFC, RICP®, CFP®, and Axias Wealth Advisor, Benjamin Lacomis, presented a case study with enhanced strategies regarding loan back up finds, recent legislation, and retirement planning.
